Is This Justice? by Claudius Lysias Chilton

Claudius Lysias Chilton

1856-1914

Claudius Lysias Chilton was born in Tuskegee, Alabama. Chilton received his license to preach in July 1877 in the Methodist Episcopal Church at Court Street Church in Montgomery. His passion for music and worship led him to play multiple musical instruments and compose hymns and poems. However, in 1901, Chilton parted ways with the Methodist Church due to a disagreement over the use of musical instruments in worship. He then continued his ministry independently as a freelance evangelist. Chilton passed away in 1914.
